The recommendation to hospitals released on January 27, 2014 shows research into how hospitals utilization of antimicrobial garments can help decrease (HAI) and promote a sterile environment.

We evaluated and summarized the literature around 2 aspects of Hospital Care Personnel (HCP) attire.
- Perception of both patients and HCP regarding HCP attire in relation to professionalism and potential risk for transmission of microorganisms.
- Evidence of contamination of HCP attire and the potential for HCP attire to contribution to the transmission of pathogenic microorganisms in hospital.
In addition , we preformed a survey of the SHEA membership and SHEA research network to learn more about the policies related to HCP attire that are currently in place in members institutions.
